Connections
Heat from the Network is supplied at connection points. At present the Network shows twelve connection points where the heat will be supplied to consumers via smaller local distribution networks or supplied directly to larger heat consumers. Additional connection points can be added as required. Connections to the Network range in size from towns centres, housing developments and hospitals to schools and public sector buildings.
The Network will be designed to connect numerous heat sources including combined heat and power plants, fuelled on fossil and renewable energy sources, biomass boilers, other sources of renewable energy and industrial waste heat. Further into the future fuel cells and geothermal sources are also possible options to supply heat for the Network.
This section of the website presents details of the expected and future connections to the Network.
